1972Our history began at the same time as the adventure of tourism, when the first visitors began to arrive at these coasts seduced by the warmness of our climate and our character. We started as a small family project, with 2 hectares in which we distributed 200 plots, a bar-restaurant, a supermarket, a souvenir shop and the reception. It was 1972 and among 10 people we built the foundations of a big project.
1977With the help of the tourist boom, satisfying every day visitors new and known and after five years of good results, we invested in the first improvement: a pool to refresh our clients' daily lives, some of which already perceived us as a second home.
1982After another five years, to celebrate our tenth anniversary, perceiving that each year we received more and more campers, we embarked on an extension of land with four hectares that made us pioneers of family tourism. We included facilities never seen in a campsite to date, we built a mini golf, football fields, basketball, volleyball and an Olympic pool, and we reinforced everything with a second bar. The effort was rewarded, in 1988, with the Diploma of Merit for Tourism from the Generalitat de Catalunya for our contribution to the promotion of tourism.
1991This expansion, however, was only the precedent of our true corporate leap, between 1991 and 1992, with which we would reach the category of resort and the international recognition of quality. We built a pool and a bar themed in ancient Rome, along with those we added an impressive amphitheater, a stage on which we would organize the shows that even today characterizes the Sangulí. We also built the first Bali bungalows and mobile homes.
This new leap in quality also had its reward: the Royal Automobile Club of Holland, the country with the highest camper tradition in Europe, awarded us the Best Camping in Europe award.
1994Our policy has never been to conform. That is why two years after our great reform, in 1994, we expanded the Polynesian zone with 30 new bungalows, which evoked a village of oceanic islands.
2006Inspiration in other cultures worked and a new idea arose that we could not resist. An expansion that would color the camping: Villa Paradise brought, with its walls, the shades of the Caribbean houses.
The Sangulí was then divided into three zones: the Mediterranean, with its mobilhomes next to the amphitheater, Villa Paradise and its colorful wooden houses, and thatched bungalows in the Polynesian area.
2011Always with the intention of surprising our customers, in 2011 we continued to bet on renovation. This season the renovations started with theme focusing the swimming pools. At Fiesta pool we add another slide, that will bring more fun to the hot summer moments. Following the Mediterreanean and Roman theme, specially for being located next to the amphitheater, we enhanced the theme in this area with Roman sculptures of gladiators and high columns of differents sizes that represent the ancient empire. We also added 2 slides at the Hapy Pool, a green and a yellow slide that interwine to reach the most active bathing area of Sanguli. At the Relax Pool, making it even more magical, we added an enchanted tree from which springs a cascade of water, also in the children´s area we added mini slides and animals so that the little ones can also enjoy the water in complete safety. In addition, regarding the catering, we have made a complete renovation of the Sanguli Bar and we have built the Sports TV Bar Sanguli, a space to broadcast the main sports events.
2013Just where the Salou promenade starts, at the entrance of Sanguli, we open two Beach Clubs for our customers. A chance for them to enjoy a nice aperitif on the beach. In this space we also offer sunbeds ans umbrella rentals, all services with a special price only for Sanguli Customers.
2015We inaugurate a new playground behind the Amphitheater. The park is separated in different areas, one for smaller children with swings ,and another area for older children with an adventure zone. A space with many fun games, but above all safe, so the children of Sangulí can enjoy the outdoors and play.
2016During 2016 season, we decided to make a qualitative leap. New technologies are the main focus. Because of the connectivity needs of our customers, we consolidated a project to implement the WiFi network, which has allowed us to expand the coverage to the entire site with more than 250 antennas. These do not involve any transmission and guarantee maximum coverage throughout the site, even in full occupancy. This way, we continue betting on the satisfaction of our customers during their stay at Sanguli.
2017We inaugurated the new area of Africa with 5 new types of accommodation. The savannah is populated with lodges inspired by African tribes and in the safari zone, the great canvas tents give the sensation of being in an authentic expedition. The Victoria restaurant, the Africa Pool and the Baobab bar help transport you to the neighboring continent. In parallel to the construction of the new area of Africa, work has focused on renewing ourselves to maintain our high standards of quality. We have built water slides in the pools and adapted the entire complex to access for guests with reduced mobility. In addition, we have improved environmental policies and resource management to reduce the impact on our privileged environment.
2018We win the ANWB “Camping of the year” 2018 award in the Best Accommodation category. The award was given for the quality and for the way the accommodations and the enclosure feature different themes. To select the winners, independent inspections were carried out in 180 campsites around Europe.
2019We start the year having won, for the second consecutive year, the ANWB “Camping of the year” 2019 award in the Best Accommodation category. This year the selection of the winner has been, for the first time, public. More than 35.000 votes were cast by ANWB users. This is a historic milestone since until now any tourist accommodation has managed to win it two consecutive years. At the amphitheatre, Sanguli’s iconic construction opened 27 years ago, a complete refurbishment has taken place. The stage has been refurbished to make the shows look better and it has been adapted to make it more comfortable by improving the box seats, the seats and the illumination. We have expanded some Amphitheatre’s central box seats, this way we have created a premium area to eat à la carte, which will be a privileged area where one will be able to enjoy the show. We have also fully renovated the Tàrraco. The new Restaurant – Bar will offer a larger menu with rice (paellas) and à la carte dishes. The Deli Food and the toilets have a new image and a new bar has been added outdoors. Looking back, our growth is that of a large family. We currently occupy 30 hectares where we can accommodate 5,000 customers thanks to a team of more than 300 workers. The experience acquired in more than 40 years gives us the character and identity that drive us to work in one direction: a holiday paradise with all the comforts and to offer amusements for the whole family.
2020 Invested in a significant improvement to offer the clientele an excellent technological experience, by improving the Access Points network thanks to the installation of fibre optics in all the accommodations and IP in all televisions of the Africa, Caribbean and Polynesia. Additionally, the pitches of the B and D area have experienced an improvement with the renewal of the wiring, the numbering signs of the pitches and the streetlights. It is also the first year that Sanguli’s pools (except for the Dog Pool) are treated with salt.
